Every Monday from 7 am - 7 pm, we hold space at Marion Mashore Playground. Opening doors for the community to "Bring Their Own Bottle" and fill it up with free/donation based organic herbal tea. The goal is to make natural remedies more accessible to our neighbors while also standing behind neighborhood beautification. Over the course of 9 weeks, we have spent 108 hours at this location, talking to over 50+ New Town South community members, from the post man to business owners, to young kings, to the homeless individuals and victims of the drug epidemic, about the history and future of this site. Upon arriving to this playground, we noticed that besides the grass getting cut every 2 weeks, Richmond Parks and Recs has pretty much been abandoned this space. We hope to not only bring attention issue, but also transform it to a place the Mayor of South-side Marion Mashore, would be proud of. A place for the kids to play and families to laugh. For the people to gather and fellowship in person, like the old days.
For the last 4 years, we have held space for free from 6pm - 8pm every Tuesday. We began at Broad Rock Community Garden in 2019, smack in the middle of a world full of traffic. The experience was everything it needed to be. Creating portals of healing for the entire community. Initially beginning under the sponsorship of B LOVEE, LLC, in 2021 they partnered with 3 Deep Breaths Church. As of 2022, the partnership transitioned to LOVEE TEAHC, LLC and 3 Deep Breaths Church, with space being held at Forest Hill Park. The flow offers a group venting session; each member in the circle expressing positives and challenges they may be going through, followed by some guided self-expression, call and response, and poetry led by Brandon Lovee. After the self-expression, we dive into some guided breath work and yoga led by NeeNee Lovee. Then we end with guided body movement and deep stretching led by Jah Lovee. The gathering is still free, as well as now including LOVEE TEA into the experience. Join US at FOREST HILL PARK, every TUESDAY, 5:55PM - The Stone House. 6:20PM - walk down to the pond.
On the last Saturday of every month, from 10AM-2PM, we team up with @MelanatedAmericans to REALLY CLEAN THE BLOCK. As we focus on healing and spreading LOVEE to each individual, we refuse to forget about the planet that keeps us grounded, nourished, and gives us life. Polution has flooded our communities, both internally and externally. We strongly believe it is vital for we as human beings to be the caretakers of this gift we have been given known as Mother Nature. We begin at Marion Mashore Playground, then spread out into 3 phases. "The Big Guys" - indviduals focusing on grabbing items that need a full hand or two to grab. "The Details" - indivduals focusing on digging deep into the roots to pull out the smaller items. Then finally, "A Fresh Cut"- individuals focusing on landscaping, debris removal, and grass cutting. Each month, re return to the same location, then radiate out, leaving less and less work upon each return, while also maintaining that which has already been done.
